Note: Due to the July 4 holiday, next week will be a short work week. Crews will be off from Thursday, July 4, through Sunday, July 6. Construction activity will resume on Monday, July 7. Due to the holiday, there will be no weekly update issued July 5. The updates will resume on Friday, July 11.

Hunter Park Village – Restoration of the right-of-way has been delayed due to a miscommunication between the city and the contractor that resulted in the new asphalt being installed without the proper roadbed foundation. Consequently, the city has requested that the contractor remove the asphalt already installed and start over. Work has begun on the south end of the park (at 3500 South) and will proceed northwest with an estimated completion date of Aug. 15. Portions of the path will be opened as they become finished..

3300 South – Major construction continues between State Street and 500 West, including the bores under TRAX and I-15. Watch for median closures and lane restrictions EB and WB in this section

3500 South: Mainline construction continues between Bangerter Highway and 4800 West. Expect median closures and intermittent lanes restrictions EB and WB.

Hunter Park Village – Re-asphalting of the walking path continues.

3300 South – Major construction continues between State Street and 500 West, including the bores under TRAX and I-15. Watch for median closures and lane restrictions EB and WB in this section.

Cleaning and pressure testing of the new section of pipe from 2700 to State Street will continue. A temporary pig launcher and compressor have been set up at 2700 East. Limited traffic control is in effect at this location.

The new section of pipe from 2700 to State Street will be cleaned and pressure tested. A temporary pig launcher and compressor have been set up at 2700 East. Crews are also tying in the new line to an existing line at the 2300 East intersection. Limited traffic control is in effect at these two locations

3300/3500 South: Cleanup, repaving and major construction continues between 1000 West and Redwood Road. Consequently, median closures and lane restrictions remain in effect with traffic limited to two lanes EB and WB. Magna: 8400 West near 2700 South – A crew continues boring under 8400 West. No traffic disruptions are expected.

3300 South – Major construction to replace the existing pipeline with 24-inch pipe between State Street and 2700 East is nearly complete. Crews will work on installing the last section of mainline at State Street. Crews are completing work at 2000 East. Final paving and cleanup will also be done at the Highland Drive intersection. Highland Dr. may be closed to north-south this weekend to pour concrete. Watch for median closures as well as lane and possible left-turn restrictions in work zones.

Between State Street and 500 West, crews will be relocating individual water- and gas-service lines, closing up the bore pits near TRAX and setting up equipment in preparation to bore under I-15. Traffic control is in place with 24-hour median closure and lane restrictions EB and WB in effect.

3300/3500 South: A variety of work activity continues between 1000 West and 2700 West. Consequently, 24-hour median closure and lane restrictions remain in effect from 1000 West to 2700 West.  Traffic is limited to two lanes EB and WB (except WB at Redwood Road and 2700 West where traffic narrows to one lane).

3300 South – Major construction to install new 24-inch pipe between State Street and 2700 East is about 75 percent complete. Twenty-four-hour traffic control, lane restrictions (one lane open EB and WB) and median closures remain in effect in various sections, including from 200 East to 500 East, 900 East to 1100 East (due to the Salt Lake County storm-drain project), 1300 East to 1500 East and 2000 East to 2700 East. Look for more sections to reopen to normal traffic in the next two weeks as crews pave, stripe and finish cleanup. In the meantime, expect intermittent lane restrictions NB and SB on 300 East, Highland Drive, 2000 East, 2300 East and 2700 East where these streets cross 3300 South as crews install pipe across these intersections.

Work to bore under the TRAX crossing at 200 West continues. Equipment and pipe are set up in the median from West Temple to 300 West with traffic EB and WB pushed to the outside two lanes. Watch for flaggers and please drive carefully.

3300/3500 South: The Jordan River (1200 West) bore is finished. Crews plan to pull pipe under the Brighton Canal (about 1400 West) on Monday night. In addition, major construction to install 24-inch pipe is underway in the vicinity between Redwood Road and 2200 West. Consequently, 24-hour median closure and lane restrictions remain in effect from 1000 West to 2700 West.  Traffic is limited to two lanes EB and WB (except WB at Redwood Road and 2700 West where traffic narrows to one lane). There are no left-turn restrictions at Redwood Road.

3500 South: Next week, crews will begin relocating gas- and water-service lines to individual businesses and residences between 4000 West and 5200 West. Expect intermittent lanes restrictions on either side of the road as crews work through this section.

3300 South – Major construction to replace the existing pipeline with 24-inch pipe is underway between State Street and 2700 East. There are 24-hour lane restrictions and median closures in effect from State Street to 2700 East with traffic limited to one lane EB and WB and left-turn restrictions at various locations in the median and at the following intersections: 1100 East, 1300 East, Highland Drive, 2000 East, 2300 East and 2700 East. Expect intermittent lane restrictions at night NB and SB on 1300 East and Highland Drive where these streets intersect 3300 South.

Pipe installation in the bore at State Street will finish up next week. Traffic EB and WB on 3300 South through this intersection is limited to one lane up to 300 feet on either side of State Street with no left-turn restrictions. The outside right lane SB on State Street at 3300 South is closed, but right turns on 3300 South are still allowed. NB State Street lanes at 3300 South are not restricted.

3500 South – Possible lane restrictions remain in the 2700 West intersection as crews complete some minor valve work and final cleanup. Major construction is complete between 2700 West and Bangerter Highway. This stretch is now ready for UDOT to begin widening the road and building a high-speed bus lanec down the center. 3300 South – Crews continue to relocate existing individual gas- and water-service lines between 1300 East and 2700 East. Major construction to replace the existing pipeline with 24-inch pipe is underway between State Street and 2000 East. There are 24-hour lane restrictions and median closures in effect from State Street to 2700 East with traffic limited to one lane EB and WB and left-turn restrictions at various locations in the median and at the following intersections: 500 East, 700 East, 1100 East, 1300 East and Highland Drive. Expect intermittent lane restrictions at night NB and SB on 500 East, 1100 East, 1300 East and Highland Drive where these streets intersect 3300 South.

Boring is underway at State Street with the crew expected to pull pipe through this weekend. Traffic EB and WB on 3300 South through this intersection is limited to one lane up to 300 feet on either side of State Street. The outside right lane SB on State Street at 3300 South is closed, but right turns on 3300 South are still allowed. NB State Street lanes at 3300 South are not restricted.

Another crew has started boring under the Jordan River (about 1200 West). The median is closed to accommodate equipment between 1000 West and 1330 West. Two outside lanes of traffic are open EB and WB. When the bore crew at State Street is finished, it will move to the Brighton Canal (about 1400 West). Lane restrictions at the Jordan River will be extended to 1400 West.

Another crew will begin boring under the TRAX crossing at 200 West. Equipment and pipe will be set up in the median for about 1000 feet on either side of the tracks with traffic EB and WB pushed to the outside two lanes. Watch for flaggers and please drive carefully.

3500 South – Major construction to install new pipe between 2700 West and Bangerter Highway (3800 West) is complete. Some lane restrictions remain at the 2700 West intersection as work is finished on an underground valve assembly.

Consequently, 24-hour lane restrictions and median closures remain in effect with traffic limited to one lane EB and WB and left-turn restrictions in the median and at the following intersections: 500 East, 700 East, 1100 East, 1300 East and Highland Drive. Also expect EB and WB lane restrictions to extend east of Highland Drive to 2700 East as relocating crews proceed east. Expect intermittent lane restrictions at night NB and SB on 500 East, 1100 East, 1300 East and Highland Drive where these streets intersect 3300 South. A bore crew has begun work at State Street. This will take a couple of weeks to complete. Traffic EB and WB on 3300 South through this intersection will be limited to one lane up to 300 feet on either side of State Street. NB and SB traffic on State Street will not be restricted. Please drive carefully in the construction zone or use alternate routes if possible.

Copper Club Golf Course (8950 West 2600 South) – A crew continues to replace several thousand feet of pipe across the golf course. Work is taking longer than expected due to exceptionally wet ground conditions but should be finished by  March 6. There are no significant impacts on traffic.

3300 South –Crews have set up two work zones and have begun relocating existing water and gas service lines beneath the proposed trench area for the new pipe. The first construction zone is between 200 East and 400 East. The second construction zone is between 900 East and 1300 East. A crew has also started a directional bore beneath the buried canal located near 1200 East. Twenty-four-hour lane restrictions and median closures are in effect in both zones with traffic limited to one lane EB and WB and left-turn restrictions in the median. Please drive carefully in these construction zones or use alternate routes if possible.

Hunter Park (6680 West) – Construction in this section is complete. Crews will finish final cleanup early in the week and return in the spring to tie-in to the rest of the system and complete right-of-way restoration, including re-asphalting the walking trail.

Copper Club Golf Course (8950 West 2600 South) – A second crew continues to replace several thousand feet of pipe across the golf course and are expected to complete work in this area by Feb. 29. There are no significant impacts on traffic.

3300 South – On Monday, Feb. 25, crews will set up two work zones to begin relocating existing water and gas service lines beneath the proposed trench area for the new pipe. The first construction zone will be established between 200 East and 400 East. The second construction zone will be between 900 East and 1300 East. Traffic in both zones will be restricted to one lane EB and WB during daytime hours. An additional lane will be opened in both directions at night. Left-turn restrictions in the median will be in effect 24 hours. Please drive carefully in these construction zones or use alternate routes if possible.

3500 South – Major construction is underway to install new pipe between 2700 West and Bangerter Highway (3800 West). Twenty-four-hour lane restrictions are in effect between 2700 West and Bangerter Highway. Traffic is limited to one lane EB and WB and there are left-turn restrictions in the median. Traffic is limited to one lane EB and WB and there are left-turn restrictions in the median on 3500 South within the 2,500-foot construction zone. Right-of-way restoration of the walking trail will be completed in the spring when the weather warms up. There are no significant impacts on traffic.

Copper Club Golf Course (8950 West 2600 South) – Another crew is replacing several thousand feet of pipe across the golf course. Work is about 40% complete. Next week, crews will be boring under the baseball field and a section of wetlands. There are no significant impacts on traffic.

Highland Drive (1400 East) – Due to unstable soil conditions, the bore could not be completed. A crew will return to this location in April and install pipe by trenching through the intersection. Cleanup is underway and all traffic restrictions should be removed by early next week.

3500 South – On Monday, starting at 2700 West and moving toward Bangerter Highway (4000 West), crews will begin relocating existing water and natural gas service lines. Crews will occupy a rolling workspace about 700 feet long between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily. During this time, the median and inside left lanes will be closed, limiting traffic to one lane EB and WB. Between 4000 West and 5600 West, crews will continue potholing in various locations to identify buried utilities. Depending on crew location, the median and the WB inside left lane will be closed with limited left-turn access in the median.
