1300 East from Fort Union Blvd. to Forbush Ave. (7755 South) -- Construction is completed in this section and the road has been asphalted. Thanks for your patience.

1300 East and Buttercup Drive (10075 South) -- Effective Saturday, Sept. 6, Buttercup Dr. at 1300 South will be closed to traffic as crews install pipe across this intersection. Closure of Buttercup Drive is necessary due to number and location of buried utilities in 1300 South at this location. Access to and from Buttercup Drive at 1300 South will reopen on Sept. 14. As an alternate route, motorists can access Buttercup Drive via 1410 East off of East Sego Lily Drive.

1300 East between High Point Parkway (8020 South) and East Sego Lily Drive (10200 South) -- Crews are installing new pipe and completing tie-ins in the median at several locations on this stretch of 1300 East. To limit open trenching in the new road, crews bored under the median islands. To provide room for crews and equipment, traffic is limited to one-lane in both directions weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Two lanes of traffic will be open northbound during morning rush hour and southbound during afternoon rush hour. The speed limit in work zones is 35 mph. Temporary left-turn restrictions in the median and intersections can be expected. To avoid delays, motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes whenever possible. Every effort will be made to maintain access to businesses and driveways in construction zones at all times.

1700 East between 10600 South and 11800 South -- Beginning this week, a crew will begin installing pipe at 10600 South and moving south along 1700 east to 11800 South. Work along this stretch is expected to last until the end of this year. Crews will make every effort to maintain traffic flow in both directions in work zones on 1700 East, but temporary lane closures and turn restrictions (mainly at intersections and to accommodate movement of pipe and equipment) can be expected. In narrow sections of the road, traffic may be flagger-controlled.

1300 East from 4500 South to Van Winkle Expressway -- Crews are finishing up at this location. Paving and final cleanup are scheduled for this week and the southbound lane on 1300 East between Murray-Holladay and Van Winkle should be reopened to traffic next week. Thanks to nearby residents for your patience while this work was completed.

1300 East from Fort Union Blvd. to Forbush Ave. (7755 South) -- Crews are trenching and installing new mainline pipe in the median between 7180 South and Creek Road. Access to shopping centers, office building and condos and apartments is being maintained, however lane closures and turn restrictions are in effect in this section on Union Park Ave. and 1300 East. Traffic congestion can be heavy at times. A temporary left-turn restriction is in effect north bound on 1300 East onto west bound Fort Union Blvd. Work in this section is expected to last another six to eight weeks.

1300 East between High Point Parkway (8020 South) and East Sego Lily Drive (10200 South) -- Crews are operating bore rigs in the median at several locations on this stretch of 1300 East. To limit open trenching in the new road, crews are boring under the median islands. Some trenching will be required at intersections to connect sections of pipe. The bore between 8700 South and 9000 South is scheduled to be pulled today. The bore between 9880 South and 10075 South is scheduled to be pulled Saturday. To provide room for crews and equipment, temporary lane restrictions can be expected in both directions between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Two lanes of traffic will be open northbound during morning rush hour and southbound during afternoon rush hour. The speed limit in work zones is 35 mph. Temporary left-turn restrictions in the median and intersections can be expected. To avoid delays, motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes whenever possible. Every effort will be made to maintain access to businesses and driveways in construction zones at all times.

1200 East between 7600 South and 7800 South -- Crews are installing pipe to the new regulator facility behind the Asian Star restaurant t. On High Point Parkway between 1200 East and 1300 East lane restrictions are in effect in the work zone. This weekend, crews will begin trenching to install mainline pipe on 1200 East. Traffic NB and SB between 7600 South and 7800 South will be flagger-controlled and limited to one-way in both directions. This work is expected to take five to six weeks.

1300 East from 4500 South to Van Winkle Expressway -- Crews are trenching and installing new mainline pipe and tying it into the pipe previously bored under Van Winkle and the valve assembly installed near Spring Lane. The southbound lane on 1300 East between Murray-Holladay and Van Winkle will be closed to traffic for the next two to three weeks until this work is completed. Between 4500 South and Murray-Holladay Road, traffic is flagger-controlled and limited to one-way only in both directions.

The speed limit in work zones will be lowered to 35 mph. Temporary left-turn restrictions in the median and intersections can be expected. 1300 East between High Point Parkway (8020 South) and East Sego Lily Drive (10200 South) -- Construction on this section of 1300 East is scheduled to begin the week of April 14 and continue for several months. To expedite construction, multiple crews will be working simultaneously at various locations. Crews may also work at night and on weekends. Allowing for weather and other project demands, this portion of the project is expected to be completed by October 2014. To avoid trenching, pipe will be installed by boring underneath the median islands between major intersections. To provide room for crews and equipment, some temporary lane restrictions and road closures can be expected. Crews will do their best to maintain two open lanes of traffic on 1300 East in both directions. At times it may be necessary to limit traffic southbound on 1300 East to one lane but not during the peak commute weekdays between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The speed limit in work zones will be lowered to 35 mph. Temporary left-turn restrictions in the median and intersections can be expected. To avoid delays, motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes whenever possible. Every effort will be made to maintain access to businesses and driveways in construction zones at all times.

1300 East and Fort Union Blvd. -- Work to trench across Fort Union Blvd. at 1300 East continues. At least one lane of traffic will remain open EB and WB on Fort Union, however, during the day flow will be controlled by flaggers instead of traffic lights. Temporary lane restrictions NB and SB on 1300 East through the intersection can also be expected. Drivers should also be aware that left-turn restrictions in the intersection may occur at any time to accommodate movement of pipe and equipment. This work is scheduled to be finished by April 23. If possible, during this time motorists are encouraged to take alternative routes especially during rush hour. Please drive carefully and slow down at this location.

1300 East from 3300 South to Creek Rd (about 7300 South) -- Several crews continue to work at various locations on 1300 East between 3300 South and Creek Rd. Crews are doing their best to maintain two-way traffic in all work zones, however in certain narrow sections it is necessary for flaggers to reduce traffic to one-way in both directions. Work zones are continually changing as crews install pipe in both northerly and southerly directions. Most work is confined to the median which can limit left-turn access for long stretches. Traffic restrictions at the 5290 South and 1300 East intersection are scheduled to be lifted this weekend. In addition, crews are expected to be finished installing pipe between 4126 South and 4250 South by the end of next week. If possible, motorists are encouraged to avoid 1300 East during construction and choose alternate routes. If travel on 1300 is necessary, please obey all speed limits in work zones and watch for flaggers. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSURE - Effective Monday, March 3, the SB lane of 1300 East between Murray Holladay Road and Van Winkle Expressway will be closed to provide room to assemble the pipe that will be pulled through the bore under Van Winkle. This temporary closure will eliminate open trenching and lane closures on heavily travelled Van Winkle at 1300 East. During this lane closure, drivers WB on Van Winkle will be permitted to turn right (NB) on 1300 East. SB traffic on 1300 East will be diverted EB and WB on Murray Holladay Road. The SB lane on 1300 East is expected to remain closed for up to five days.

Crews are doing their best to maintain two-way traffic in all work zones, however in certain narrow sections it is necessary for flaggers to reduce traffic to one-way in both directions. 3349 South 1300 East - A crew working in the median is boring under the Salt Lake and Jordan Canal at this location. Traffic NB and SB on 1300 East is open but left-turn restrictions will be in effect within the work zone (about 200 feet). This work is scheduled to be completed by March 1.

3900 South 1300 East - Work in the intersection has been completed and the crew has begun trenching and installing pipe moving south along 1300 East working mainly in the median. Depending on weather and soil conditions, the crew is expected to advance on average at the rate of several hundred feet of pipe per week. At least one lane of traffic will remain open at all times NB and SB on 1300 East. Left turn restrictions will be in place within the work zone.

6400 South 1300 East - Starting at 6400 South, and working in the median, a mainline crew will be trenching and installing pipe moving north along 1300 East. Depending on weather and soil conditions, the crew is expected to advance on average at the rate of several hundred feet of pipe per week. At least one lane of traffic will remain open at all times NB and SB on 1300 East. Left turn restrictions will be in place within the work zone.

6500 South 1300 East - A crew working in the median at this location is boring under the Salt Lake and Jordan Canal. Traffic NB and SB on 1300 East is open but left-turn restrictions will be in effect within the work zone (about 200 feet). This work is scheduled to be completed by March 1.

7100 South 1300 East - A crew is currently potholing to identify underground utilities in preparation to begin trenching and installing pipe NB on 1300 East as soon as next week. Motorists can expect lane restrictions in the NB lane on 1300 East.

3349 South 1300 East – This week a crew is setting up equipment in the median to begin boring under the buried canal at this location. Traffic will be maintained NB and SB but left-turn restrictions will be in effect within the work zone (about 200 feet). This work will take several weeks to complete.

3900 South 1300 East intersection – Starting this week a crew will begin trenching to install pipe through the intersection. Traffic will be maintained through the intersection in all directions with no turn restrictions. However, motorists approaching the intersection NB and SB on 1300 East should be prepared for lane shifts beginning about 100 feet on either side of 3900 South. This work will take several weeks to complete.

6400 South 1300 East – Starting at 6400 South, and working in the median, a mainline crew will be trenching and installing pipe moving north along 1300 East. Depending on weather and soil conditions, the crew is expected to advance on average at the rate of several hundred feet of pipe per week. At least one lane of traffic will remain open at all times NB and SB on 1300 East. Left turn restrictions will be in place within the work zone.
