arrow Oct. 28, 2014 -- On 400 South, the westbound outside-right lane between 600 East and 200 East will be closed to traffic this week daily from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. as crews make final tie-ins to put the newly installed main into service. Next week, crews will begin switching individual service lines from the old main to the new main. No gas service interruption is expected and access to businesses will be maintained as much as possible during this work. The service-line crews will begin working at 900 East and move westward closing the outside westbound traffic lane in one- to two-block sections at a time. On 1700 South, in addition to yesterday’s update, crews this week will be potholing to identify buried utilities between 500 East and 600 East. Traffic closures eastbound next week will shift to between 500 East and 700 East. Access to area businesses and residential customer driveways will remain open. Crews will cease working by 4:30 on Friday, Oct. 31, to accommodate early Halloween activities in the neighborhood.

arrow Oct. 27, 2014 -- On 1700 South, crews have installed new eight-inch-diameter plastic main under the sidewalk from 106 East to 350 East. East bound traffic has been reopened from State Street to 400 East. This week, crews will be boring to install new main between 400 East to 500 East, and eastbound traffic will be closed from 400 East to 600 East.

arrow Oct. 9, 2014 -- On 400 South, crews next week will begin installing new pipe under the TRAX line at 500 East and 300 East. To avoid any potential interruption of TRAX service, UTA has requested this work be done at night when TRAX is not running. Work is scheduled from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly for the following dates and locations:
500 East and 400 South: Oct. 14 to Oct. 18 (Tuesday thru Friday nights)
300 East and 400 South: Oct. 15 to Oct. 22 (except Sat. and Sun. nights)
Traffic flow at these intersections will be maintained, but temporary lane closures may occur to accommodate movement of pipe and equipment. Access to businesses and driveways will be maintained. No interruption to residents’ natural gas service is anticipated. This work will be conducted in strict accordance with all county noise ordinances. Some residents may hear generator noise and the boring machines. During this period of night construction, work on 400 South between 300 East and State Street will continue during normal daylight hours.

arrow Oct. 7, 2014 -- On 400 South, crews last week installed pipe across 300 East. This week, potholing continues between 300 East and State Street and crews will install pipe between 300 East and 200 East. Next week, crews plan to bore and install pipe from 200 East to State Street.  Closure of the westbound right lane on 400 South continues during workdays from 300 East to State Street between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to provide room for crews and equipment. Pedestrians can also expect sidewalk closures in work zones.

arrow Sept. 30, 2014 -- On Oct. 1 crews will begin replacing a short section of underground natural gas pipeline on 1700 South between State Street and 700 East. This work will occur in two phases. During phase one, crews will install a new main line in the street. Phase one will end in early December. Phase two will occur next spring, when crews will connect customers’ meters to the new main line. No interruption to residents’ natural gas service is anticipated during this project. During construction crews will make every effort to maintain traffic flow in both directions on 1700 South, but temporary lane restrictions and closures can be expected. Eastbound travel on 1700 South will be closed in two-block segments to accommodate movement of pipe and equipment. The project will begin at State Street and proceed east. Access to businesses and driveways will be maintained.

arrow Sept. 17, 2014 -- On 400 South this week crews will be tying-in pipe at 900 East, testing the new pipe installed between 9125 East and 700 East, installing pipe through the 700 East intersection and potholing to identify buried utilities between 500 East and 300 East. Crews are now working weekends to expedite completion of the project. Closure of the westbound right lane on 400 South continues during workdays from 700 East to 300 East between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to provide room for crews and equipment. Pedestrians can also expect sidewalk closures in work zones.

They will also be boring and installing pipe across the intersections at 700 East and 600 East. This weekend, a crew will also be working to complete tie-ins in the vicinity of 900 East. Weekdays, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., the westbound right lane on 400 South will be closed from 700 East to 400 East to provide room for crews and equipment. arrow Aug. 26, 2014 -- On 400 South crews have installed new pipe between 900 East and 800 East. This week crews will be potholing to identify buried utilities between 700 East and 500 East. They will also be boring and installing pipe from 800 East to 700 East. Weekdays, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., the westbound right lane on 400 South will be closed from 800 East to 500 East to provide room for crews and equipment. Pedestrians can also expect sidewalk closures in work zones.

arrow Aug. 6, 2014 -- On 1000 East, the new, 16-inch-diameter steel line has been tested and placed in service. Final tie-ins for the new, plastic two-inch mains at 500 South, 600 South and 700 South will be completed this week. There are no significant traffic restrictions in effect.

On Main Street, final testing and cleanup will be completed by Friday afternoon (Aug. 8) and the northbound lane on Main Street between 400 South and 300 South will be reopened to traffic.

On 400 South, construction is scheduled to begin in mid-August on between 1000 East and State Street. Multiple crews may be working simultaneously at various locations along the project route to expedite completion of construction. Allowing for weather and other project demands, this work should be completed by the end of December 2014. To provide room for crews and equipment, temporary lane closures can be expected for westbound traffic on 400 South between 1000 East and State Street, especially weekdays from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. While every effort will be made to maintain access to businesses and driveways in construction zones, temporary closures will be necessary to facilitate installation of the new pipeline. All such closures will be coordinated with affected businesses and residents beforehand. No interruption to residents’ natural gas service is anticipated during this project.

arrow July 23, 2014 -- On 900 East, the southbound lane between 300 South and 400 South has been reopened to traffic. Barricades around pipe and other equipment remain in place at 1000 East and 300 South for the time being. Crews are re-asphalting 500 South between 900 East and 1000 East today. The new 16-inch-diameter steel pipe in that location will be tested and placed into service by July 30. Barricades are also in place at 800 South and 1000 East while crews tie-in the new pipe.

On 400 South, beginning the week of Aug. 4, crews will begin potholing to identify underground utilities between 1000 East and State Street in preparation to install new pipe in the south side of the street. Major construction is scheduled to begin in mid-August and be finished by the end of the year. During construction, the outside right-hand lane westbound on 400 South will be closed at various locations to allow room for crews and equipment, especially weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Watch this site for further updates.

arrow July 22, 2014 -- On Main Street, the northbound lane between 200 South and 100 South will be reopened to traffic effective tomorrow. On Monday, July 28, crews will begin tying in new pipe with existing pipe on the south side of the intersection of Main and 300 South. To allow room for crews and equipment, this work will require the closure of all northbound traffic on Main Street between 400 South and 300 South for about three weeks. All sidewalks and crosswalks will remain open and pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained while this work is completed.

arrow July 16, 2014 -- On 900 East, southbound traffic is limited to one lane between 320 South and 360 South. Equipment and pipe are still stationed at the corner of 1000 East and 300 South and cordoned off with construction barriers. On 500 South between 920 East and 960 East, crews are installing Geofoam over the 16-inch-diameter steel pipe where it crosses the fault line. Traffic lanes are open on either side of the excavation. 500 South will be repaved next week. Individual services are all tied into the new 2-inch plastic mains. Next week, crews will be digging and tying in the new steel pipe at 1000 East and 800 South and at 1000 East and 300 South in preparation to “pig” and test the new pipe.

On Main Street, the northbound lane between 300 South and 100 South is still closed to traffic. On 200 South, eastbound traffic is limited to one lane entering the intersection at Main Street to provide room for the bore pit.

arrow July 8, 2014 -- This week on 900 East between 300 South and 400 South, crews will be reconnecting individual service lines to the new eight-inch-diameter plastic main line. They will also be tying in the dead-end main on Iowa Street into the new two-inch-diameter plastic main on 300 South and installing Geofoam over the sixteen-inch-diameter steel main line on 500 South where it crosses a fault line.

On Main Street, NB traffic between 100 South and South Temple will be reopened tomorrow. The NB lane on Main Street between 300 South and 100 South is closed. Sidewalks remain open and there is complete access to TRAX and all businesses. New pipe is installed between 100 South and 200 South. The last two businesses will be reconnected and the line gassed by this weekend. Traffic NB on this block is scheduled to reopen by July 24. Meanwhile, in the block between 300 South and 200 South, crews will be potholing, boring and installing new eight-inch-diameter plastic main. This work is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 8.

arrowJune 25, 2014 -- On 300 South, crews will finish installing new 16-inch-diameter steel pipe between 900 East and 1000 east by the end of this week. They will also begin installing two-inch plastic main on the north side of 300 South and tying in individual services. Once the service lines on 300 South are re-connected, crews will move to 900 East and begin installing new eight-inch plastic main on the west side of the street between 300 South and 400 South.

On Main Street, crews have completed the bore under 100 South and tied in the new eight-inch plastic main on the north side of the intersection. Early next week, once the concrete patch has cured, the northbound lane of Main Street between 100 South and South Temple will be reopened to traffic. Crews are completing installation of new eight-inch plastic main between 100 South and 200 South this week and will begin replacing individual service lines to businesses over the next couple of weeks. Northbound traffic on Main Street between 100 South and 200 South will remain closed until this work is finished. Meanwhile, early next week, northbound traffic between 200 South and 300 South will be closed has crews begin potholing in preparation to install new eight-inch plastic main in that section.

arrow June 16, 2014 -- Work will begin to replace the existing pipe on the east side of Main Street between 100 South and 300 South. Crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Northbound traffic on Main Street will be closed at various times between 300 South and 100 South while work is underway. Sidewalks will remain open, and the work will not affect TRAX schedules. Construction on this section of Main Street is expected to be finished by Aug. 8, 2014.

arrowJune 6, 2014 -- Crews have completed the bore on 900 East under 400 South and the TRAX line and have installed new 16-inch-diameter steel pipe up to 300 South. Next week, crews will begin installing steel pipe east on 300 South from 900 East to 1000 East. They will also be paving over the trench on 900 East between 300 South and 500 South and adding a little more asphalt on 500 South between 900 East and 1000 East. All services on 1000 East have been connected to the new plastic main line

arrowMay 21, 2014 -- Crews have finished installing new the 16-inch-diameter steel main on 500 South from 1000 East to 900 East and will now begin working north on 900 East. They should reach 400 South by the end of the week. Starting the week of May 27, in preparation for the bore under 400 South and the TRAX line on 900 East, crews will be potholing in the intersection to locate existing buried utilities. They'll also be working on the north and south side of 400 South and then begin boring under the intersection of 900 east and 400 South. The NB lanes of 900 East from 500 South to 300 South are closed and all traffic diverted to the west side of the street and restricted to one lane NB and SB for the next few weeks. 1000 East between 500 South and 800 south will be re-asphalted by the end of this week. Also this week, all individual services on 1000 East from 500 South to 600 South will be connected to the new main.

arrowMay 12, 2014 -- This week crews will begin preparations for the 16-inch bore on 900 East. To provide room for workers and equipment the north bound lanes of 900 East from 500 South to 300 South will be closed and all traffic diverted to the west side of the street and restricted to one lane NB and SB for the next few weeks. Crews will also be trenching to install the new 16-inch steel pipe on 500 South from 1000 East to 900 East. This work will include boring under a buried canal just east of 900 East. Individual services will be tied into the new 2-inch-diameter plastic main on the west side of 1000 East between 600 and 500 South. Next week (May 19) the road cuts on 1000 East between 500 South and 800 South will be repaved.

arrowMay 1, 2014 -- On 1000 East, crews have installed new 16-inch-diameter steel pipe under the 700 South intersection and down to 800 South. They have also installed new two-inch plastic pipe between 500 South and 800 South and are close to connecting all individual service lines to it. Crews are now open trenching to install new 16-inch steel pipe between 700 South and 600 South and will begin trenching between 500 South and 600 South on Monday, May 6. This week they will install new two-inch plastic on 500 South from 900 East to 1000 East.

arrow April 21, 2014 -- Crews have installed new 2-inch-diameter plastic main on 800 South between McClelland St. (1050 East) and 1000 East and on the east side of 1000 East from 800 South to 700 South. All service lines in this section, as well as the one-way main running east on Lowell Ave. (750 South), have been tied to the new pipe. In addition, crews completed boring and installing a 16-inch-diameter steel main line under the intersection of 600 South and 1000 East. This week, crews will be boring and installing 16-inch steel pipe at the 1000 East and 700 South intersection. They will also install new 2-inch-diameter plastic main on the west side of 1000 East from 700 South to 600 South.
